2nd Annual LogMeIn InGames Raises $31k for BUILD’S Youth Entrepreneurship Programs

On Thursday, March 14th, LogMeIn hosted its 2nd Annual InGames tournament benefiting BUILD, a non-profit whose mission is to use entrepreneurship to ignite the potential of youth from under-resourced communities and propel them to high school, college & career success. The money raised by the event will help provide the organization with start-up funding for twenty 10th grade student businesses.

At this year’s InGames, which included Basketball, Pool, Corn Hole and Ping Ping, co-ed teams from LogMeIn and participating local Boston companies went head to head while co-workers and friends watched and cheered them on. Participating companies included Akamai, CloudHealth by VMware, Bullhorn, Drift, Rue Gilt Groupe, Zipcar, Quick Base, HubSpot, and of course, LogMeIn. Everyone enjoyed drinks and snacks from sponsors Boloco, Chicken & Rice Guys, 9 Miles East, Briggs Hard Seltzer, Archer Roose Fine Wines and Athletic Beer Company while teams competed.

Working in six Boston Public High Schools, 400+ students in the BUILD program develop their own business plans, pitch to funders, and launch real businesses with the help of volunteer mentors from the Boston community. During the tournament, participants and spectators had the opportunity to learn about BUILD student businesses and how to become a mentor.

The games, run by Social Boston Sports and sponsored by Reebok, came down to the wire in the finals. In the end, Drift proved victorious in basketball, HubSpot won in ping pong, Akamai took the gold in corn hole, and our own LogMeIn team came first in pool. Congratulations to our winners:

  • Ping Pong – HubSpot – Jonathan Haber & Yongbo Niu
  • Corn Hole – Akamai – Wally Garcia & Alayna Garbarino
  • Basketball – Drift – Cody Bernard & Lindsey Riordan
  • Pool – LogMeIn – Walker Littlehale & Chelsea Sanders

And thank you to all the companies, sponsors, and students that participated in this wonderful event. We’re already looking forward to next year’s rematch—game on!
